Songs and Stories

As I was driving around yesterday during work, I decided that i really like songs that tell stories. Yes, I know that most songs do, in some way or another, but I mean a story in a timeline fashion. From point A to point B.

here’s 3 songs that I really like that showcase what I’m talking about

Gym Class Heroes – Scandalous Scholastics

Sufjan Stevens – Casimir Pulaski Day

Daft Punk – Digital Love

It's retro!

The Design Matters official summer challenges are going to be over soon. We managed to get 3 of them in…I would have liked to do more but we took a while to get the ball rolling. At any rate, I posted the last one and the topic was one that i thought would be alot of fun: design any sort of advertisement. Any ad of any kind for any product.

That’s what i love about these challenges, they’re very open to whatever the designer feels like doing. we never set any strict guidelines.

That being siad, I’ve always had this fascination with vintage advertisements. And even more so with the old tobacco ads from that era. Maybe because we can’t really advertise tobacco anymore and also because the whole country’s viewpoint was different on so many levels and these tobacco ads always seem to reflect that.

Thanks D and Rhiannon for being my super slick models.

Discombobulated! It's Here!

So it’s finally here! Got everything finished for being able to publish the movie to the web.

I’ll let you watch watch it now and I’ll talk later…

So, I know I already said it in the credits but a big thanks goes to everyone involved in this project. It was much bigger than anything we’re used to and we spent a long time getting it polished and ready to go.

I’m almost finished with the DVD also. Yeah, that’s right, a DVD with menus and animation and everything! The DVD will feature a few special features including outtakes, a very funny gag-reel, and our one and only deleted scene. It’ll also have both the Teaser and Trailer on it.
If you want one, just let us know. I’m guessing most of the people who’ll want it can just come on over and grab it for themselves but if you’d like us to send you one, I’m sure we can handle that (unless hundreds of people start asking for one…cause we’re that awesome).

We toyed with the idea of making a sleeve for a standard sized DVD case…something I’d love to do. Unfortunately we’re not going to give them out with the cases but I’m sure we’ll go ahead and design some sleeves anyways and put ‘em up here for download if you’ve got an old (or new) case lying around and would like to proudly display our DVD amongst your collection. I know I would.

We’ve also talked about trying to spread the word about this project too. Maybe look for a few sites that we can upload it to such as Funny or Die and some others. We’ll let you know about that. Obviously, I’d cut a new version that features our websites so that people could come here for more.

Also, this isn’t the end. We’ve talked about doing more and even opening up an OMGFilms.com. That would be really rad. As of right now, we’re going to try and stick to making shorts but perhaps we’ll come back to a large movie like this one. We figure shorts are going to be easier to focus on as well as make more of. That way, we’ll have a good bit of content for the OMGFilms site…ideally.

WE’ll keep you posted about all of that. To all of those who have been waiting to see it and putting up with our hype, thanks for being patient. Hopefully we’ll (OMGFilms) see you again soon.
